I’ve been a bit behind in blogging because I’ve been reading A Court of Mist and Fury and I need to read Trials of Apollo and I’ve just been procrastinating reading both because I’m scared for them to end, so I’ll be posting midweek with a Favourite Female Characters post. My favourite male and female characters. I am trying to stick to main characters today so the posts won’t be too long.
Everyone’s favorite Demigod! Percy is honestly so amazing, we’ve watched him grow up and become the man he is now. His sass and loyalty are probably my favorite character characteristics for Percy, while I do agree with a lot of people that he seems to have become a bit bitter I understand it. He’s been through so much I would be worried if it hadn’t affected him. The humour through his narration kept what could have been a horror story light and fun. Percabeth is also probably one of my favorite ships ever, their devotion to one another sent them through Hell together and I think it’s so amazing how far they’ve come. It doesn’t hurt that men with black hair and green eyes are my type.
“Don’t feel bad, I’m usually about to die.”
“Very slowly using two fingers, Annabeth drew her dagger. Instead of dropping it, she tossed it as far as she could into the water.
Octavian made a squeaking sound. “What was that for? I didn’t say tossit! That could’ve been evidence. Or spoils of war!”
Annabeth tried for a dumb-blonde smile, like: Oh, silly me. Nobody who knew her would have been fooled. But Octavian seemed to buy it. He huffed in exasperation.
“You other two…” He pointed his blade a Hazel and Piper. “Put your weapons on the dock. No funny bus–”
All around the Romans, Charleston Harbor erupted like a Las Vegas fountain putting on a show. When the wall of seawater subsided, the three Romans were in the bay, spluttering and frantically trying to stay afloat in their armor. Percy stood on the dock, holding Annabeth’s dagger.
“You dropped this,” he said, totally poker-faced.”
So it’s been awhile since I’ve read these books, but God I love me a a good love/hate relationship. Daemon is awesome, he’s a kick-ass alien who looks like a god, he’s so devoted to Katy that even when he doesn’t like her he protects her, his alien mojo is like really powerful and he’s just an awesome character; he’s willing to give up everything that he is to protect Katy and I just love their relationship in general. I mean just look at this quote; “Did you think you could stop me? I’ll burn the world down to save her” (Origin). They’re the best, and even through their troubles and all the suffering they’ve endured they stick together (at least as far as I can remember?) The sexual tension In the first two books (I think it was the first two books) was AH-MAZING and I remember that more than anything else sticking with me at the end of each book. They way Daemon handled it by basically being a dick was so engrossing for some reason. Also again, black hair, green eyes.
“So I was thinking, there’re eighty-six thousand, four hundred seconds in a day, right? There’re one thousand, four hundred and forty minutes in a day…There’re one hundred and sixty-eight hours in a week. Around eighty-seven hundred and then some hours in a year, and you know what?…I want to spend every second, every minute, every hour with you…I want a year’s worth of seconds and minutes with you. I want a decade’s worth of hours, so many that I can’t add them up.
– Origin (Daemon to Katy)
The original love/hate relationship. I’m not sure how much I need to write here, Darcy is so kind and the banter between he and Elizabeth is amazing. While if you don’t understand some of the finer points on social etiquette of the time certain jabs won’t seem as effective once you do it’s honestly so funny to read certain parts. Darcy is shown to be prideful, and while that may be the case, as the novel progresses we find he is a complicated character and one who is most loyal.
“I have faults enough, but they are not, I hope, of understanding. My temper I dare not vouch for. It is, I believe, too little yielding— certainly too little for the convenience of the world. I cannot forget the follies and vices of other so soon as I ought, nor their offenses against myself. My feelings are not puffed about with every attempt to move them. My temper would perhaps be called resentful. My good opinion once lost, is lost forever.”
Okay so he’s a new addition to this list, and oddly enough I love him for his patience. Not so much his patience with Noelle (the protagonist, narrator and his love interest) but his patience with her family. Again there’s a bit of a love/hate relationship though this one has a shit ton more sexual tension than the others…. I love his reactions to the Bond family and how protective he wants to be of Noelle, but how he still ‘lets’ her do her own thing because he knows she’s an alpha woman just like he’s an alpha male.
“We’re oil and water. Chalk and cheese. Snow and sun. Equally, though, we’re fire and gasoline, burning matches and fireworks, kindling wood and a bonfire. We’re opposite but explosive. Opposite but unhealthy. Opposite and possibly a little bit toxic. A lot toxic, because the man riles me up like no other.”

(Yes I am aware that most of these characters are romantic interests and not protagonists. I just love couples and romantic shit. So most of my favorite characters are chosen based on their relationships. Which I am aware is stupid but whatever.)
