So basically I really wanted to do a fun book tag and through my (not so) extensive Googling I came across this one; The Birthstone Book Tag. I had a quick read through the questions and it seemed like it would be really fun. The original tag was made by Jay G on Booktube so you can check out her video HERE.
January (GARNET): Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies – Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.
Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K Rowling. I may not have enjoyed the series as much as everyone else, and Umbridge may not technically be the villain. But she’s a downright bitch and 100% evil.
February (AMETHYST): Purple is associated with royalty – Name a book with regal qualities… You can base this off of characters of choose the King of all books.
For this I’d say The Selection series by Kiera Cass. I know there are many other books that have ‘regal’ qualities and even with a monarchy. But when I think of The Selection it just seems so much lighter than the others. More about the attitude and personality of the characters (who are clearly preparing to take monarchical roles) rather than some big battle where the characters are more interested in fighting than kindness. If that makes sense?
March (AQUAMARINE): Washed out – Name a ‘wishy washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower.
In the beginning (well not the literally beginning but for a majority of A Court of Thorns and Roses) Feyre is not a strong character, she’s weak and basically lets others make decisions for her.
April (DIAMOND): A diamond in the rough – Name a book that you loved but is not well known.
May (EMERALD): Said to balance energy – Name two characters who balance each other well.
Rhysand and Feyre in A Court of Mist and Fury. I don’t feel I can say why, partially because of spoilers and partially because I just feel they balance each other well. I can’t think of why.
June (PEARL): Associated with loyalty – Name a character who is loyal to the end.
Percy Jackson. It’s literally his fatal flaw. He’s so loyal, but once you lose his loyalty you’re unlikely to get it back. And you’ll possibly end up dead?
July (RUBY): Blood red – Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry.
Allegiant by Veronica Roth.
August (PERIDOT): Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems) – Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character.
Tink from Wicked by Jennifer. L. Armentrout. I like Ivy, she’s cool. But Tink? Tink is the bomb.
September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming – Name a book that had a calming affect on you.
Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne.
October (OPAL): Iridescent – Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover (Shiny? Lots of colour?) or you can base it off of a character (Quirky? Colourful?).
Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan. This cover… It makes me so happy.
November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience – Name a books with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity.
Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. She starts out as a half cyborg, basically a slave for all the recognition she receives, and goes on to SLAY.
December (BLUE ZIRCON): Associated with friendship – Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of.
Percy Jackson’s crew. Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Tyson, Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel, Frank, Nico, Will – and maybe Calypso. They just seem like such an amazing group of people with varying personalities and skills and even though I don’t think I’d have anything to contribute to the group, or any skills similar to them so we could do activities together, I’d still love to be apart of their group.
