wrap up

Wrap Up: January 2017

Okay, this is SUPER late but I just haven’t felt inspired to make a post so sorry for lateness.  Also can I just say how flipping happy I am that Goodreads has introduced a RE-READ  OPTION! Like how amazingly awesome!

Playing With Fire (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl #1) by Gena Showalter – ★★★ – Adult Urban Fantasy Paranormal Romance

Snorted a lot through this one.  The good snorting, like laughter snorts not disgust snorts.  This wasn’t exactly memorable but it was a fun read.

Scarlet (Scarlet #1) by A.C. Gaughen – ★★★★ – Young Adult Historical Retelling Romance

This is a Robin Hood retelling and I love it,  I love Scarlet, I love Robin and I love all the characters interactions and relationships.  This is my second read of Scarlet and I still found it extremely entertaining.

Lady Thief (Scarlet #2) by A.C. Gaughen – ★★★ – Young Adult Historical Retelling Romance

Royal Rebel by Dana Taylor – ★★★ – Young Adult Historical Retelling Romance

I kind of skimmed through the bit in the middle, but that wasn’t because it was bad or anything.  It’s late and I needed to know the ending.  At least I didn’t just skip to the end – I feel I would have missed an awful lot by doing that.  This is another Robin Hood retelling (or inspired by), I’m kind of on a kick for that era and story right now which you’ll see more clearly in February’s Wrap Up.

A Promise of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles #1) by Amanda Bouchet – ★★★★ – Adult Paranormal Fantasy Romance

This was an incredible read and I’ve been recommending it since I finished it.  I want to re-read it already and I feel I should have rated it five stars instead of four.  It’s an awesome fantasy adventure and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!  I honestly haven’t stopped thinking about this book, I loved it!  If and when I do re-read it I’ll be sure to write a review as I have a lot of feels and love to share about this book.

My Ex From Hell (The Blooming Goddess Trilogy #1) by Tellulah Darling – ★★★ – Young Adult Greek Mythology Fantasy Romance

This was a re-read and I’m not particularly sure why I wanted to pick it up again.  Maybe I was thinking of the Hades and Persephone story and just wanted to delve into a book featuring such characters.  This is a Hades and Persephone reimaging retelling.  The love interest isn’t actually Hades and never was so I liked that and Sophie is a pretty rebellious and different Persephone than you might typically picture.  The supporting characters are also pretty fun and their interactions and conversations are humorous.

Stolen Magic (Shadows of the Immortals #1) by Marina Finlayson – ★★ – Adult Paranormal Urban Fantasy Romance
