Book Tag: The Fictional Boyfriend Tag

To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year I thought it would be fun to do a tag, this tag was created by RachelReads (previously known as RayKayBooks I believe?) on YouTube. I’ll include the original video at the bottom of this post if you want to check it out.

1. Most Romantic Boyfriend.

Okay this isn’t necessarily the most romantic book boyfriend, to be honest I read it a while ago and can’t remember any specific scenes but…  Boyd Gallagher from Jana Aston’s novel Trust. The way he handled his love interest who has social anxiety made me want to choose him as the most romantic boyfriend since he has to approach each romantic situation in a way that she can handle and that’s pretty much what I would classify as romantic.  Taking your partner’s strengths and weaknesses and providing an option that builds the strengths and doesn’t knock the weaknesses further down is romantic because it requires consideration and thought. (I could be totally wrong, I haven’t read it in a while..)

2. Dark and Moody Bad Boy with a Good Side.

Daemon Black is my dark and moody bad boy with a good side.  Daemon Black is the love interest in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series which begins with Obsidian.  What can I say, Daemon Black, I mean dude.. I’m 75% sure he was my first fictional boyfriend/crush.  His and Katy’s relationship is a love/hate relationship and he’s such a dick personality wise and I just love it.  Plus SEXY ALIEN. But really he is like  huge douche and while he gets better with Katy he’s still a dick to everyone else.  He has his reasons for being dark and mysterious but he never lets himself become the bad guy (except you know.. in Katy’s eyes before everything goes crazy).

3. Paranormal Boyfriend.

I was going to answer this question with Daemon Black but I used him in 2. hmm… Does Percy Jackson count as a paranormal?  I mean he’s not fully human and has incredible powers?  Let’s go with Perseus Jackson from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and The Heroes of Olympus series.  He’s funny, hot and imagine the beach dates!

4. Boyfriend you want to tame.

Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster.  I mean I know he becomes pretty ‘tamed’ after being with Abby but still.  I wouldn’t really want to tame anyone because that’s not cool, growing and maturing together is one thing but like actively trying to change something about someone isn’t that cool.

5. Boy you Friend Zoned.

Cain Elliott from Being Brooke by Emma Hart.  I mean he starts out as Brooke’s best friend and he’s so chill I’d want him as a best friend.  He’s funny, pretty to look at and is totally cool with being seen and hanging out with a complete hot mess.  Which is an apt way of describing me.”My shut-up-and-put-on-Harry-Potter, yes-this-is-your-shirt, help-I-have-no-power, crap-I’m-out-of-tampons, kinda best friend.” Like I mean it could be cool to date him yeah, but having him as a friend?  I’d be down.

6. Your Soul Mate.

Fitzwilliam Darcy.  Since I like to quite imagine myself as being similar to Elizabeth Bennett it only makes sense that my soul mate be Mr. Darcy himself.  He’s just, the goal.  Handsome, rich, smart, determined and lacking certain social skills that would allow me to not do the social thing because he wouldn’t want to do it either.  Also there is something to note: All my favorite fictional relationships start out as a love/hate relationship with outbursts, angst and sexual tension to go along with angry glares and working one another up on purpose.  So Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice is my soul mate.

7. Boyfriend you want to elope with.

Rhysand, for sure.  He’s the kind of guy no one would approve of for me and eloping just seems like the sort of thing Rhys would do.  If you’ve been living under a rock Rhysand is a main character in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.  Though Rhysand doesn’t really get much page time until A Court of Mist and Fury I liked him from the beginning and damn, I even used the hashtag #slutforRhysand while I was reading ACOMAF.

8. Boyfriend you’d venture anywhere with.

Perry from Veronica Rossi’s Under the Never Sky series. I haven’t read this series in a long time but I remember loving Perry and he’s used to the surviving.  Used to being in the wilderness and I mean that seems like a good kind of trait to have if you’re venturing to unknown places.  If there was a novel equivalent to the version of Tarzan from the 2016 Legend of Tarzan movie I would pick him (I am aware that Tarzan is actually a book series but it’s not the same or as sexy). I would put Perry in 9. but I’m using logic to make that decision.

9. Boyfriend you’d want to be stranded on a desert island with.

Ares from Eternal Rider, first book in the spin-off series for Demonica, Lords of Deliverance by Larissa Ione.  Okay, for starters he’s hot and controlling (in a good way, like controlling a situation controlling), secondly HE CAN CREATE PORTALS AND BASICALLY TELEPORT US BACK HOME?! I honestly haven’t seen a single person use this logic when answering this question.
P.S: If this were a movie boyfriends tag I’d totally say Jack Sparrow just for giggles.

10. Most Badass Boyfriend.

Griffin from the Kingmaker Chronicles.  It could just be because he’s the last badass boyfriend I read, or it could be because he’s a warlord who will do what it takes to bring peace to his newly conquered realm and then some.  So either Griffin or Rhysand because obviously.
