Some of you may recall a few posts ago I mentioned that I had multiple boxes for A Court of Frost and Starlight ordered, and now that it’s past release day they’ve started arriving! The first of the boxes to arrive on my doorstep is The YA Chronicles box. I ordered the UK paperback box as I already had so many hardcovers ordered. I don’t really need to say anything else about this box do I? We all know and at least half of us love the A Court of Thorns and Roses series – but I will put a spoiler warning here in case anyone hasn’t read beyond A Court of Thorns and Roses (I also include the synopsis for ACOFAS and it has spoiler from A Court of Wings and Ruin)! And in case anyone didn’t know, A Court of Frost and Starlight is a novella bridging the first trilogy to the spin-off set in this world – which if you’re read the bonus chapter/sneak peek at the end of ACOFAS you’ll know who that follows and I am so excited to read more about these characters. It is not a full length novel, more like a snippet into their day to day lives now the war is over. It isn’t supposed to have a full plot and some of the reviews I’ve seen have said that it feels almost like the story itself is fan-fiction.
Okay so let’s get down to business:
As always we start with the box itself, nothing special, just The YA Chronicles normal box. It isn’t overly sturdy but since it isn’t travelling internationally (at least for me) it’s in good condition. There’s no packing worms inside, and the intro/spoiler card isn’t right on top, but that’s okay.
The first thing I plucked out of the box was this coaster of Feyre during Starfall. I love this, it’s just a foam coaster but I love coasters and need more of them. It’s really pretty, I love the stars and just everything about it. The art is by Morgana0anagrom on Tumblr.
The second thing I saw was this adorable Rhysand pin made by KnightmaresDaydreams on Etsy. Little Rhysand looks so cute!
Next up we have this delicious smelling ‘Winter Solstice’ candle by FaerieTalesCandles on Etsy. It smells of toffee apple, spice and peppermint and I can’t wait to light it! (Plus no allergic reaction!) And the little frost and starlight wax melts on top are so cute!
Continuing on we have this double-sided necklace made by Sonnet and Fable on Etsy featuring a quote from A Court of Frost and Starlight; “To the blessed darkness from which we are born, and to which we return.” I’m not much for these type of necklaces but this is really cute and will be perfect for a photo prop, one day I might even wear it?
Bloomsbury, very kindly, supplied the Tower of Dawn pre-order incentive pouch as a reminder that The Kingdom of Ash, the final book in the Throne of Glass series, is finally coming! I’m really happy to have this, I haven’t been reading the Throne of Glass series, and so I haven’t been pre-ordering the books. So to have something that I did miss out on, despite enjoying the series, is really wonderful! And for the record, I am planning on reading the series once the final book is released. Unless I lose interest like I did when trying to read the series once before.
Up next we have The YA Chronicles bookmark matching the theme of the box that they always include, plus an additional one focusing solely on the theme; Frost and Starlight. And of course the introduction/spoiler card. I love the artwork on the second bookmark and the spoiler card, I think its so beautiful!
Coming up to the final items in this box, we have this wonderful comic strip drawn by @arz28 in Instagram. I think this is so cute, I just, I love it. It makes me smile so much!
Second to last we have another piece of artwork by @arz28, this time it’s a beautiful piece of Feysand embracing with constellations around them. This is seriously so beautiful and I can’t wait to take more photos with it, and stick it on my wall!
And a drum roll for the book….
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas. I already read and loved it! I rated it 5 stars! And the embossing on the cover is beautiful, and I couldn’t get a good photo of it, on one of the inside pages is a ‘YA Chronicles Approved’ embossed stamp. Which makes the book all the more special. And I love how my favourite quote (and I’m sure many others) is included on the cover, I just love it. The detailing, Feyre’s dress and tattoo, ugh, it’s just so pretty!
The Winter Solstice. In a week. I was still new enough to being High Lady that I had no idea what my formal role was to be. If we’d have a High Priestess do some odious ceremony, as lanthe had done the year before. A year. Gods, nearly a year since Rhys had called in his bargain, desperate to get me away from the poison of the Spring Court to save me from my despair. Had he been only a minute later, the Mother knew what would have happened. Where I’d now be. Snow swirled and eddied in the garden, catching in the brown fibers of the burlap covering the shrubs My mate who had worked so hard and so selflessly, all without hope that I would ever be with him We had both fought for that love, bled for it. Rhys had died for it.
I loved this box, I specially love the coaster and art prints, other than the book, they were my favourite items! I’m so happy I ordered it, partially because it arrived before my Book Depository order did so it was the first copy I had and could read, but also because what was included. I’m just still really excited about the coaster!
