wrap up

Wrap Up: May 2018

May was a much better reading month for me than April was, fingers crossed the same can be said for June!

A Court of Frost and Starlight (#3.1 A Court of Thorns and Roses) by Sarah J. Maas – ★★★★★ – YA/NA Fantasy Romance

A thousand times over yes to this entire novella and the sneak preview for the next book!  Devoured it in 4 hours, loved it, especially Feyre’s second gift to Rhysand!

Stalking Jack the Ripper (#1 Stalking Jack the Ripper) by Kerri Maniscalco – ★★★★ – YA Historical Mystery/Horror

I loved this, it satisfied so much of my love of the macabre – giving me the same satisfaction as a Criminal Minds or Bones episode. But in a wonderful 1800’s setting which I admittedly have never read anything in. I wish I had read this sooner and I look forward to continuing the series.

Lion Heart (#3 Scarlet) by A.C Gaughen – ★★★ – YA Historical Romance Retelling

Skim read some parts. But that was mostly because I’ve read parts of the story before, just not in full; previous skim reads. So I skimmed over the bits I remembered.

The Dating Experiment (#2 The Experiment) by Emma Hart – ★★★★ – Contemporary Romantic Comedy

As always another wonderful book by Miss Hart, I really loved that we got a an epilogue to sort of conclude The Upside to Being Single and The Experiment duology. I didn’t like Chloe and Dom as much as previous characters, I wasn’t as invested in their story. But I still loved it!  Read my Kindle highlights and notes HERE.

Dirty Secret (#1 The Burke Brothers) by Emma Hart – ★★★ – New Adult Contemporary Romance

Royals (#1 Royals) by Rachel Hawkins – ★★★★ – Young Adult Contemporary Romance

This was such a cute light read. I loved Daisy and I thought Miles and Seb were great characters but I would have liked to see more of the supporting characters. But overall, a great sweet read. Nothing heavy, and it made me laugh quite a few times. I think that’s what I loved most about Daisy and her father – that humour!

I’ll keep dreaming for any eligible ‘royal’, of any rank to come to Tasmania and find me overwhelmingly perfect and fall in love with me, but until then books like this will have to suffice.

Hunting Prince Dracula (#2 Stalking Jack the Ripper) by Kerri Maniscalco – ★★★★★ – YA Historical Mystery/Horror

I adored this sequel to Stalking Jack the Ripper, I cannot wait to get my hands on Escaping from Houdini! And I love literally everything about Audrey Rose and Thomas’ romance, it’s perfect and I love the propriety of the time and how they skirt the line with their modern thinking! I cannot wait to see their relationship in the next instalment!  Read my Kindle highlights and notes HERE.

A Promise of Fire (#1 Kingmaker Chronicles) by Amanda Bouchet – ★★★★ – NA/Adult Fantasy Romance

4th re-read.
