wrap up

Wrap Up: August 2018

Let me start this out by saying that I am in a blog-writing slump.  Apparently, you break one slump only to fall into another.  I currently have 5 unboxings to write up and a lot of books for a book haul – not to mention I have books I want to review and some giveaways I have planned that need announcing… But I’m going to take it slow and just write up this one post and pray that something will click and things will flow again.  On the plus side – I’m out of my reading slump!

Forgotten (#1 Lost Children) by Krista Street – ★★★ – Young Adult Romantic Paranormal Fantasy

The Darkest Night (#1 Lords of the Underworld) by Gena Showalter – ★★★ – Adult Romantic Paranormal Fantasy

The Darkest Pleasure (#3 Lords of the Underworld) by Gena Showalter – ★★★ – Adult Romantic Paranormal Fantasy

The Darkest Passion (#5 Lords of the Underworld) by Gena Showalter – ★★★ – Adult Romantic Paranormal Fantasy

Kiss of the Royal by Lindsey Duga – ★★★★★ – Young Adult Fantasy Romance

Loved this! Read it while on holiday and it was amazing!

Flukes (#1 Flukes) by Nichole Chase – ★★★★ – Young Adult/New Adult Paranormal Romance

I just re-read Flukes by Nichole Chase for like the sixth or seventh time and I still adore it! Check out my review then go buy it if you’re looking for a sweet, short YA summer contemporary romance featuring MERMAIDS!

I seriously still adore this book, I don’t think there will ever come a time when I don’t.

Side Note: I totally need to write a new and improved review for Flukes, this one is a little outdated and needs better formatting.  REVIEW HERE

A Mermaid for Christmas (#1.5 Flukes) by Nichole Chase – ★★★★★ – Young Adult Paranormal Novella

A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan – ★★★★★ – Young Adult Fantasy Mythology Retelling

First up; this is a YA retelling of the King Midas story, except it’s not really his story – it’s his daughters.

I really loved this! Pirates, mythology, a cast of excellent characters and an epic adventure plot! I’m also glad the curse wasn’t resolved at the end; all too often the story is tied up in neat strings with everything turning out perfectly, but that’s not realistic, even for a fantasy story.
So I loved that, that what she was wasn’t instantly ‘healed’ from the curse just to tie the ending up neatly with a bow. (Sorry if that’s kind of a spoiler..)

Devils & Thieves (#1 Devils & Thieves) by Jennifer Rush – ★★ – Young Adult Urban Paranormal Fantasy

I don’t think I gave this book as much attention as it required for me to fully understand and enjoy its story.  Might have to re-read it when I’m a bit more committed.
